UK PM: Britain was the victim of a 'callous terror attack'

Explosion at Manchester Arena Kills Multiple People

The group claimed that "30 Crusaders were killed and 70 others were wounded", higher than the totals confirmed by authorities in Manchester. Witnesses said they saw bolts and other bits of metal, indicating the bomb may have contained shrapnel meant to maximize injuries.

James Corden opened his late night show by addressing the fatal explosion at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England Monday night.

"This is now being treated as a terrorist attack until police know otherwise", Greater Manchester police said.

At least one arrest was made overnight in connection to the bombings, as a 23-year-old man was taken into custody.

This morning Theresa May said police and security services believed they knew the identify of the lone bomber.

The Islamic State militant group has called for attacks as retaliation for Western involvement in the conflicts in Syria and Iraq. Greater Manchester Police are advising people to "avoid the area".

So far, they have not said if there were any accomplices in planning or carrying out the attack or if any suspects have been linked to terrorist organizations.

Corbyn said Tuesday he is "horrified" by the events in Manchester and that his thoughts are with the families and friends of those who have died and been injured. "They are losers, and we'll have more of them, but they are losers".

"We stand in absolute solidarity with the people of the United Kingdom", he said. "We believe the attacker was carrying an improvised explosive device which he detonated causing this atrocity".

Medical officials said 12 children under the age of 16 were among those injured in the suicide bombing attack at a pop concert in England's second-largest city.

"I'm just hearing nothing - her phone's dead".

Manchester Arena said the explosion happened outside the 21,000-capacity venue, as Grande's fans began streaming from the doors.

UPDATE (8:35 a.m., 5/23): TMZ is reporting that Ariana Grande has "indefinitely suspended" her European tour, beginning with her date in London on Thursday.
