OJ Simpson parole hearing looms

"I guess, my age, guys come to me", Simpson told parole officials four years ago.

Why is he in prison?

Simpson was convicted of armed robbery after he tried to steal sports memorabilia from Bruce Fromong and his friend in 2007. "He has a flawless record a far as the prisoner is concerned", Cambria said. She's the board member who questioned Simpson during the 2013 hearing and joined the others to OK parole on lesser charges.

Simpson's current jail sentence, however, has nothing to do with any of the aforementioned.

When Fromong testified at the trial, he was asked by Clark County District Attorney David Roger if he stole anything from Simpson.

Back in 2008, he and co-defendant Clarence Stewart were found guilty on 12 charges after a confrontation in a hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He was found civilly liable in 1997 for the deaths of Brown and Goldman and was ordered to pay their families $33.5 million. Simpson will participate by video conference from Lovelock Correctional Center, where he has been living since December 2008.

By most accounts, Simpson has a clean prison record and a good chance for release.

Betting types are hoping to cash in on the odds of O.J. Simpson being granted parole on Thursday.

The Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners will supply a parole board panel of four commissioners.

How will the parole hearing work?

A July 14 statement on behalf of Ron Goldman's father, Fred Goldman, and sister, Kim Goldman, released by their publicity firm, said: "Fred and Kim Goldman anxiously await" Simpson's parole hearing. They are Connie S. Bisbee (chairman), Tony Corda, Adam Endel and Susan Jackson.

'A decision is being made at the time of the hearing so that the board's operation can return to normal as soon as possible after the hearing'. He is asking why they are fostering a circus-like environment for his hearing.

The parole hearing will likely dominate the news in the United States, with all the major television networks set to livestream the hearing.

"This letter basically just says help others, not help me, help the future".

What happened in his original parole hearing?

Simpson's other children are Jason Simpson, 47, of Atlanta, daughter Sydney Simpson, 31, and Justin Simpson, 28, both of Florida.

Retired prison guard Jeffrey Felix says he befriended Simpson in Lovelock.

The robbery involved Simpson memorabilia he said was rightfully his. He is eligible for parole for the first time.

Why is Simpson in prison?

While Oct. 1 is his earliest release date, authorities do not have to announce exactly when or how he is being released.

What if he is denied parole?

The board will base its decision on the point system.
