Source Live 5

An evacuation order in sc is expected on Saturday.

Daufuskie Island is accessible only by boat.

The Edisto Beach portion of Edisto Island is also being evacuated, as well as Harbor, Hunting, Fripp, Tullifini and Knowles islands.

The governor did not rule out more evacuations.

Quagliariello said the hurricane's change in direction is good news for the state, but impacts are still expected from Hurricane Irma, and any shifts will change the impacted areas.

No other S.C. counties are under evacuation order.

McMaster said the state is prepared to open 200 shelters if needed.

The latest forecast has the center of Irma as a major hurricane passing between the Bahamas and Cuba over the next 48 hours, and making landfall along the southern tip of Florida early Sunday.

By Monday evening, the storm should be over western Georgia and continue to move west, decaying into a remnant by Wednesday and dissipating completely by Friday. The storm remains extremely unsafe and is expected to have a major impact on south Florida.

In addition to "ooohing, ahhh-ing and guffawing" his way through several live press conferences related to the storm, the 70-year-old chief executive hasn't exactly been Johnny-on-the-spot when it comes to disseminating accurate information.

There are 264 agents from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, The PPP and from the Department of Natural Resources. And daily briefings are being held for local officials.

Weather officials said to expect hurricane force along the coast and tropical storm force as far inland as the Upstate.

With the center of Irma now on a north northwest track, areas along the Blue Ridge Escarpment, including northern Greenville County, the Pickens County mountains as well as parts of Oconee County, will see heavier rain than previous forecasts called for, Moore said. Any new decisions and announcements will be made via media release as well as on the City of Aiken website and social media.

In Beaufort County, officials are closing all offices at noon Friday.

The city of Georgetown has exhausted its supply of sandbags for the public, but the county will continue to have sandbags available through the weekend if supplies last.

The coastal areas of Georgia are most in peril, and, on September 6, the governor issued a state of emergency for those counties (but not Fulton County). The agencies on these coordination calls share information and discuss emergency plans in advance of any response to the storm.
