Long lines form at Costco in Florida as residents brace for Hurricane Irma

The cancellations now extend through Monday, though they will likely persist well into next week.

Pariseault's family had a tough time finding her a flight.

Evacuation for Irma has been started to avoid the loss of lives.

Additionally, as Irma makes it's way inward, there are no flights above most of Georgia either.

Meanwhile, airlines are on the clock to get their planes safely out of Florida on Friday.

Delta has also temporarily waived any change fees because of the hurricane.

Florida State has more than a dozen players on its roster who are from South Florida, which is expected to receive the greatest brunt of the hurricane.

And the storm could cause further problems for areas north of Florida, including Atlanta, home to the busiest airport in the world. Frontier Airlines has cancelled all flights in and out of TPA on Sunday and Monday, and Southwest Airlines has cancelled flights Saturday evening through Sunday.

"The airline gave us a hassle over charging us for a change of flight", he said.

A relative of one passenger said he had to drive from Miami to Ft Lauderdale as there were many cancellations at that airport.

Air Canada: Canceled all fights through Monday. Delta planned to suspend its service there starting Sunday afternoon.

In an updatable color-coded map, the county has blocked out the immediate evacuation areas in red-Zone A-for immediate evacuation. The airline's final flight from Miami for the weekend will be a 3:49 p.m. Friday connection to Dallas.

The carrier flew several relief flights to Orlando with the Boeing 747. Other airports, including Miami International and Palm Beach International, said they are continuing to monitor conditions. But as they scour the web for cheap flights, they've increasingly come upon a disappointing reality: most airlines have been charging well over $1,000 for round-trip flights to other USA destinations.

Fliers hoping to travel to the region next week should expect a slow and uneven recovery, though details will depend on exactly what Irma's impact turns out to be.

Delta said Thursday that it had upsized aircraft and added flights at airports in Punta Cana, Nassau, Freeport, Key West, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Sarasota, and Orlando - in all, more than 2,000 seats along Irma's path.
