Liverpool Boss Klopp: Burnley Draw Is Our Fault

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists there are positives to take from a frustrating 1-1 draw with Burnley.

The summer signing was on hand to control an Emre Can pass, bringing it down in the area before smashing past Nick Pope on 30 minutes.

They failed to clear the ball and Scott Arfield produced a superb half-volley for his first goal in 11 months.

After the break, Pope denied Livepool on several occasions, including one point-blank save from Dominic Solanke, which he pushed onto the bar.

But going into the start of last season the Wales global was searching for that elusive first goal in the Premier League after 27 appearances, many of them off the bench, for Wolves and Burnley.

Teenage fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold came close early, dragging an effort wide before seeing a teasing cross blocked by Robbie Brady.

Coutinho was expected to shoulder the burden in the suspended Mane's absence, but it was Salah who stepped up to lead Liverpool's front line.

He did trouble Burnley in central areas as Liverpool chased the victor, and also provided the equalizer for Liverpool but his shots from the left were tame yet again.

"Sometimes we make mistakes because we are offensively that strong". The forward steered a crisp finish inside Simon Mignolet's right post to leave Klopp raging at his defenders from the sideline. He wasn't asked to make many saves, but a big one on an 81st minute Ben Mee header may have helped Liverpool salvage at least one point.

There was not too much wrong with the overall performance and the Reds had little trouble creating chances, which has not always been the case in these type of fixtures. We played offensive football, dominant football, possession football how it should be. The 25-year-old's willingness to apply the dark arts to Burnley's game - time-wasting with his goal kicks after barely 15 minutes on the clock - was vital to the Clarets earning a point.

Sergio Aguero scored a predatory hat trick and laid on an assist for Gabriel Jesus, while Nicolas Otamendi headed in, and Raheem Sterling added a late penalty. The victory took City to the top of the table, but Manchester United can join it on Sunday with a win over Everton.
