Sam Bradford won't play for Vikings Sunday

Killer D, not Bs, sparking Steelers so far

There had such high hopes after the season-opening win, followed by the reality smack-down of last week's loss and Bradford being out.

Bradford was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday and did not appear on the practice field Friday.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen added Bradford is going to see Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion on his knee Friday.

Zimmer declined to discuss the report.

"I know Sam will be doing whatever it takes to get back on the field, whenever that is", said tight end Blake Bell, who succeeded Bradford as Oklahoma's quarterback and has known Bradford since he entered the the National Football League in 2010.

"He could be back the following week. I don't know. But I tell you I don't have a crystal ball", he said.

Minnesota (1-1) plays host to the hot-starting Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) on Sunday. We may only be two weeks in, but the season might as well be over. "We're just trying to seize every single opportunity to get better and be able to compete toward the end of the year". Yeah. We got beat.

"Your responsibility is to play to the best of your ability no matter who the quarterback is, " he said. And when you're playing your back-up, who is the No. 2 for a reason, it's never a good thing.

Everyone in the state of Minnesota is keeping their fingers and toes crossed that Sam Bradford can start under centre for the Vikings on Sunday against the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Two of the best games he's played in as a starter with a 9-18 career record have come against the Bucs.

"Ezekiel Elliott, he had a great year last year and he went against eight-man boxes, so it is what it is". Zimmer said that it was the result of Bradford "twisting" his knee.

Bradford's performance against the Saints created the feeling that he was about to take advantage of the fact this was his team, and he was going to attempt to prove to everyone that all this Ted Talk was foolish. Absences, however, are not. Later in the game, the Vikings were called for an illegal formation on a Pittsburgh field goal try that they missed. He tore the same ligament in the 2014 preseason and missed the entire year. He had a concussion and a sprained left shoulder that cost him two games with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015. "As far as being where you need to be, when you want to be there, when they want you to be there, of course".

Unfortunately for the Vikings, the quarterback carousel is a familiar ride, too. At one time, the Florida State star and former teammate of quarterback Jameis Winston was considered the player the Bucs most likely would draft 19th overall.

Tampa Bay had no issues beating the Bears last week, and while they are dealing with not having running back Doug Martin due to suspension, they can move the ball with other backs and also through the air.
