Amazon Announces New Alexa-Powered Smart Home Devices

Surprise, Inc Event Reveals New Echo and More

Amazon's stock price is up 1.34% at $951.22 on Wednesday, with a portion of those gains coming after the company announced several new hardware products at a launch event.

Inter-connectivity among Echo devices with smart home groups has also been enhanced, helping Alexa pinpoint commands based on the location of the user. Here are the details of all these devices.

The Amazon Echo Plus looks exactly like the original Amazon Echo with a cylindrical shape. The new Echo will also have a dedicated bass speaker and support Dolby Audio, so it should have better sound qualities than the original. The difference is that the Plus model comes in Silver finish, Black and White colour options.

Amazon has already opened up pre-orders for the new Echo models, including the re-designed Echo, Echo Plus, Echo Spot and Echo Connect.

Amazon has unleashed a tsunami of new Echo devices in an attempt to head off competition from the likes of Google and Apple. It has the same size as the existing Echo, but it includes a Smart Hub which allows users to set up and control devices like smart lights, switches, etc. On top of that it will do everything that the standard Echo will do. Moreover, the company also released Echo Button, which can be configured to control an Amazon Echo. It has a circular display and works pretty much like the Echo Show. It has been mentioned that each device comes with a Philips Hue smart light bulb.

Other than the above mention devices, Amazon also launched a companion device. Imagine buzzing in the next time you play Jeopardy with your Echo.

The Echo Spot can be used to make video calls with its built-in sound plus a line-out and Bluetooth allow you to turn speakers into smart audio devices.

In case you happen to be one of those users who still makes use of landline smartphones, Amazon's Echo Connect is the ideal solution for you.

The Echo family now has another member that has a face, I mean a screen. The Echo Spot will launch in the United States in December for US$129.99.

The new upgrade features audio that can stream to multiple devices at once, which reflects a major request of users almost since the device's inception.
