President Trump says National Football League owners are 'afraid of their players'

Jets players during national anthem

All those SOBs in the NFL - as President Donald Trump classified them last week - who knelt during this weekend's football games did more for the resistance than a dozen street protests and a thousand op-ed pieces.

Trump said he began criticizing the players because he has "so many friends that are owners". The President is right on this issue and we can only hope that the National Football League comes to terms with this reality before the audience revolts and ends the sport as we know it.

Unfortunately, you didn't stop there, and instead called upon team owners to fire dissenting players who took a knee. You're disrespecting our flag.

Reeling from an ongoing assault over the national anthem, the NFL is trying to make people understand that the situation has become a political issue.

I agree there is inequality and oppression in this country, and that is exactly why I stand for the national anthem; I know we are the best country on this Earth, and we will be able to quell this tension and correct the inequality and end the discrimination that we face, standing as one nation.

Hundreds of players, black and white, protested during the anthem on Sunday by kneeling, linking arms or, in some cases, declining to take the field until the music was over. This is not a free speech issue because it isn't the government restricting the rights to free speech.

At Anheuser-Busch we have a long heritage of supporting the institutions and values that have made America so strong.

"Keep it in the locker room", she suggested.

Kelly's comments are in stark contrast to what President Trump has said about the issue.

"You tell me which of those children's mothers are a son of a b". Kaepernick's actions started a movement for others who share similar opinions and wanted to make them known.

But as popular as Trump's comments were among the crowd in Alabama, his comments have stoked controversy across the country. I think they are afraid of their players you want to know the truth. "He made them do it even more".

The NFL has guidance in its operations manual, cited on various social media, about how players should comport themselves during the anthem, which does not include sitting or kneeling.

"He should get fired. As Americans, we are fortunate to be able to speak openly and freely". There are those who believe protesting should be done before or after it is played. Now, I served two years as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve, followed by 28 years and three months on active duty in the Regular Army. These players, who salute the national anthem for the country they play in, should still protest. "It has nothing to do with the disrespect of the flag".

At this point, I'm not sure if I'm writing a humorous column or a serious column.

If you missed it, here's what Trump said earlier ...

Wakefield said the younger millennials who feel like they have something to protest tend to see it differently.

Kaepernick is out of work for doing something that didn't violate the flag code.

Virtually every Democrat in the Florida congressional delegation criticized President Trump for his decisive comments.

The comments suggesting that National Football League owners - who are overwhelmingly white - are afraid of their players - the most prominent protesters are black - prompted accusations that Trump is continuing to stoke a controversy with strong racial undertones.

"It's real and they're exhausted of it". I remember when it was said that the Dallas Cowboys is "America's Team".
