Although not exactly the first made by TCL, it is the first BB phone to be openly advertised as such.

BlackBerry has taken the wraps off its latest smartphone called Motion.

The BlackBerry Motion is apparently a KEYone without the physical keyboard. It is a mid-range smartphone through and through.

Driving things along is a Snapdragon 625 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and at the back there is a 12MP camera.

During the weekend, the BlackBerry Motion was leaked online showing that it could be the company's first KEYone series to remove the physical keyboard. It also houses a 12 Megapixel primary camera. The front shooter is a 8MP that comes with a selfie flash feature. The Motion's sticker price in Dubai is Dh1,699, which is about RM 1957 when (and if) it comes to Malaysia. It is powered by a 4,000mAh battery and has a front-facing fingerprint scanner. The Blackberry Motion is going to be available initially only in a few markets and then will be followed in a few other markets.

And therein lies the Motion's biggest catch: availability.

While BlackBerry is yet to confirm the rumours, a spokesperson for TCL - the firm behind the smartphone - has previously said that the firm will reveal a new device this month. Select markets are promised but not named. Gone are the days of BlackBerry struggling with its own operating system as Android has now driven their devices since the BlackBerry Priv in 2015. It runs BlackBerry's secure OS based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. BlackBerry has equipped the Motion with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. Global launch is not clear, though for now, BlackBerry Motion is headed to the Middle East market. It is priced at AED 1,699 in UAE and SAR 1,699 in Saudi Arabia (approximately $460 / Rs. 30,000). Previously report on Engadget had quoted TCL's Fran├žois Mahieu as saying the upcoming BlackBerry phone will be ultra-secure and come with IP67-rating for water and dust-proofing.
