The OnePlus 5T Is Official

How the OnePlus 5T stacks up against Apple's iPhone X

OnePlus 5T was officially launched on Friday, November 17 in New York City and it became an instant favorite among fans and reviewers. OnePlus simply announced the phone to get in on the bezel-less phobia. The Note8 comes in three different storage variants, including 64GB, 128GB or 256GB of flash storage. As you can see from the table below, whether the OnePlus 5T is a bargain or not depends strongly on your location. Internationally, it will be seen retailing at $499 or $559. However, the OnePlus 5T comes with an increased resolution of FHD+ (2160×1080), and this will surely hit the performance, but we assume that it won't be a significant hit.

The dual camera setup now includes a 16MP primary camera with an f/1.7 aperture and a 20MP f/1.7 secondary shooter for enhanced low-light photography.

On the bottom, there's a single loud, but somewhat tinny speaker, a USB-C port and a bonafide traditional headphone jack-points to OnePlus for including one. The OnePlus 5T also seems like an injustice to OnePlus 5 users, even though the phone was not initially in the plans.

The OnePlus 5 is certainly not trailing behind its peers in the hardware stakes, it's running the same flagship tier chip as most of its competitors; Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 SoC clocked at 2.45GHz and either 6GB or 8GB of RAM depending on which variant you go for. It dominates the front screen and banishes the fingerprint reader to the rear of the handset.

The OnePlus 5T is all about that screen.

While the OnePlus 5T has a lot to offer over its predecessor, it has price tag.

Inside, the OnePlus 5T is identical to its forebear and I would expect it to produce near-identical benchmark results. Carl Pei also talked about how back in 2013; the smartphone market in general was not doing too well which according to Pei was the reason why many users had no choice but to buy the iPhone. This brings with it some features that will only be available on the pricey flagship, including Face ID, animated emoji (or "Animoji"), new gestures for navigating home and multitasking, and portrait lighting and selfie modes.

Fortunately, the OnePlus 5 manages to seriously impress with its 3,300mAh cell. On Amazon, OnePlus was also the highest selling phone beating iPhone and Samsung with 32% share.

The phone still runs OxygenOS based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat which is quite a disappointment, Android 8.0 Oreo is out for months and OnePlus should have launched the phone with latest flavour of Android.

Without further ado, let's look at the OnePlus 5! In India, the OnePlus 5T will be going on sale exclusively for Amazon Prime members at 4:30pm IST on November 21.

It has been 'enabled by TrueDepth camera for facial recognition, ' the company said.
