LG Display's 65-inch TV rolls up like wrapping paper

Meet the world’s first 65-inch UHD rollable OLED display

The new LG InstaView ThinQ refrigerator let's you do all of the things last year's model can: It can show you weather, grocery lists, let you leave notes, and tell you what's inside your fridge. You can use the built-in Google Assistant to control third-party smart devices.

In addition to support for Google Assistant and Alexa, as well as coming with LG's own ThinQ AI technology inside both of these TVs also boast support for Dolby Atmos audio technology which should mean an improved sound experience for the user.

The company's plans for the "smart connected lifestyle" revolve around appliances and devices controlled by Amazon and Google's Alexa and Assistant digital helpers, and a series of futuristic concept robots created to lighten the load in airports and hotels. HDR data is processed frame-by-frame using LG's enhanced tone mapping algorithm aiming to give you a more dynamic HDR experience, regardless of the HDR format used.

Samsung has been in the smart home game a little longer than LG. A favorite of display manufacturers has always been the flexible OLED panel.

Samsung's 146-inch TV is appropriately named: the company calls it The Wall.

This huge 4K TV is a 65-inch OLED panel, which is nearly as thin as a sheet of paper and can be rollable. The panel is made up of millions of micro-sized chips that emit light individually.

To complement this announcement they have also announced an upgraded version of its Crystal Sound tech (seen in Sony's OLED TVs) that embeds speakers directly into the screen. But the panel isn't OLED.

LG hints that in time the giant TV set might be truly portable, making it a handy alternative to projectors for businesses and the perennially indecisive. The TVs also support 120FPS high frame rate video.

LG display first announced the development of an 18-inch "rollable" display back in 2015 but this is the first time the company will show it off in public. "TV manufacturers are still casting about for what will trigger the next replacement cycle of TVs since flat screens have now pretty fully penetrated the market".
