Nintendo Labo Lets You Build Interactive Toys and Gadgets for Switch

Saturday Morning RPG

Nintendo has revealed Nintendo Labo, a new line of build-it-yourself experiences that will be compatible with Nintendo Switch and will launch on April 20 in North America, Australia, and New Zealand, and April 27 in Europe.

Nintendo announced "Labo" on Wednesday evening with a video. It uses cardboard pieces (25 branded sheets are included in each set) to create different, custom-made accessories for the console, from RC cars to robots.

Nintendo will launch the Variety Kit (which includes the aforementioned piano and RC vehicle, as well as a few other options) and the aptly-named Robot Kit on April 20. There will be two sets available to start with, the Variety Kit including an RC vehicle, fishing rod, house, motorbike handle bars and piano, and the Robot Kit which is a wearable robot suit.

You can even use the Nintendo Switch console screen in order to control objects that have been attached using the Joy-con controllers.

Nintendo is still holding on to their family-friendly way of selling their products with the introduction of Nintendo Labo. A variety pack costs $69.99 and includes five ways you can play games.

The right Joy-Con's IR camera is key to most of the mechanics at play, and the initial Nintendo Labo's mini remote control auto moves through the Joy-Con's rumble, too.

Explaining the decision to release the Nintendo Labo, the Japanese game company stresses on uniqueness. All will launch on April 20th, the company has announced, though United Kingdom pricing has not yet been confirmed.

The next creation of Nintendo Labo is the Toy-Con Piano.

The Nintendo website also emphasized that kids can customize their cardboard creations by coloring in the different sections of each Toy-Con.
