And the Oscar for the most tweeted-about film goes to…

Kimmel jokes about Oscars envelope issues

It's a cross section of the best Hollywood has to offer. Her incredibly strong character has already seen her win other significant awards during the season. Here are my thoughts on this year's nine nominees. Leading candidates are "Three Billboards", "Dunkirk" and "Lady Bird".

Meryl Streep has been nominated for her work in The Post.

Rachel Morrison could be the first woman to win the award for best cinematography.

The second batch of presenters includes Call Me by Your Name star Armie Hammer, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, multiple members of the Star Wars: The Last Jedi cast, including Mark Hamill, Oscar Isaac and Kelly Marie Tran, as well as Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot. It's a movie that feels like it has the windows open, and life just flows through it.

"Remember Me" from "Coco" is almost a lock for Original Song.

This film had an issue in terms of racial representation of Pakistani-Indian troops within the British military, and is not completely historically accurate. She's likely to win here, too. The film is reliant on its incredible visual effects to tell the last chapter of Ceasar's story.

With the #MeToo and Time's Up campaigns against sexual misconduct and gender inequality dominating the 2018 awards circuit, this year's Oscars is seen as an opportunity for the industry to support female filmmaking.

I love this movie.

"I am rooting for "Get Out" to win best picture".

"What I learned a year ago is there's a lot of elements to the show that you can't control", she added. It's a cinematic marvel that combines horror, comedy and racial politics in a truly mesmerizing way.

I got really excited about the Best Director slate.

Why has no woman ever been nominated in this category?

It's a tough call, so I'm going with my number-one film of 2017.

We're four days away from the Academy Awards, and cinephiles can only hope the upcoming show will be half as exciting as last year's. This picture represents a masterful display of direction and film achievement, which they did acknowledge with a Best Picture nomination.

Twitter released a list of the most-tweeted Oscar nominees. In a year with so many deserving projects, it would be impossible for the academy to nominate all the films that deserve praise.

Beyond that, there was a good chance, even if you were a kid, that you would recognize and maybe even be cheering for some of the nominated movies and stars. But to me, it felt like he was just crying for 4 minutes straight, without much change or variety to show. Shot in Toronto and Hamilton, Ont., Guillermo del Toro's unlikely romance is heading into Sunday's ceremony with 13 nominations, with Canadians in the running for their work on the fantastical film's production design, costume design, sound editing, sound mixing and film editing.

Will Win: Del Toro seems to have this locked up. It flows in a hypnotic fashion, and has a truly attractive core. Although personally I found the film to be lacking in directorial talent (Franco also directed the film), it was obvious that Franco gave an incredible performance in his representation of Wiseau, the eccentric film director. Revisit the moment that Moonlight won best picture - after a little bit of confusion - at the 2017 Oscars.

But "Three Billboards" was far from the best picture of the year.

This is the Tony Award winner's sixth consecutive year designing the Oscar stage.

And, the victor will be Frances McDormand ("Three Billboards"). Of the rest, Sally Hawkins is outstanding and very, er.committed, in The Shape of Water, while Margot Robbie has marked her transition to serious actress with I, Tonya.

Should Win: The most deserving is Ronan, who's perpetually playing a jumble of emotions, a lot of them contradictory, at once. McDonagh's original screenplay has been winning awards left, right and center.

Making a final prediction is hard. Similarly, "Darkest Hour", "Lady Bird", "Call Me By Your Name" and "Phantom Thread" don't have the heft to pull this off. Then there is the wonderful honesty of "Lady Bird", which is just so infectious.
